Meet The Doctors

Welcome to Kelly Family Orthodontics, where we provide excellent orthodontic care from our family to yours! The husband and wife team of Dr. Michael Kelly and Dr. Gillian Kelly are specialists in Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics, having both completed two to three years master’s degree programs beyond dental school. This advanced educational background ensures that the orthodontic treatment you and your family receive is of the highest caliber.

Dr. Gillian Kelly was born in Connecticut and spent her childhood in Maine. She graduated from Winslow High School and went on to complete her undergraduate studies at Penn State University where she graduated with honors and high distinction. After college, she went on to the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, where she received her DMD degree. While at UConn Dental, Dr. Gillian Kelly received the Outstanding Senior Women Academic Achievement Award from the Governor of Connecticut. Dr. Gillian Kelly was then accepted into the prestigious Department of Orthodontics at Virginia Commonwealth University. Her master’s research entitled, “Parents preferences regarding appearance and attire of orthodontists” was recently accepted for publication in the Angle Orthodontist, a prominent orthodontic journal.

Dr. Michael Kelly was born in Connecticut and grew up in North Haven. He graduated from North Haven High School and then attended the University of Connecticut in the Honors Program. He graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. After college, he earned his DMD degree at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. He was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, and was also awarded the Alpha Omega award for highest academic ranking in his class. Dr. Michael Kelly completed his orthodontic specialty training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, one of the most well-respected orthodontic residency programs in the country.  He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics, and is a member of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics.  

Both Drs. Michael and Gillian Kelly are dedicated to the pursuit of clinical and academic excellence, have a passion for teaching, and pride themselves in giving back to the community. They have participated in numerous service projects locally and abroad, including providing dental care at the Connecticut State Dental Association’s Give Kids a Smile, CT Mission of Mercy, and Special Olympics Special Smiles, as well as volunteering at the Harvard Pilgrim Middletown Half Marathon. While at UConn, the Doctors were part of a service trip to Paraguay during which they provided dental care to underserved communities.

Drs. Gillian and Michael Kelly are both members of the American Dental Association, the Connecticut State Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, and the Northeastern Society of Orthodontists.

While not in the office, Gillian and Michael enjoy spending time with their families, skiing, swimming, traveling and most importantly, rooting for the UConn Huskies!
