After years of hating my teeth, I finally decided to do something about it. I needed to have two baby teeth extracted and two teeth completely moved back in order to make room for dental implants to be placed. Getting Invisalign had been a New Year’s resolution of mine for almost five years. There seemed to never be a convenient or great time financially to make this commitment, but I was finally ready. Orthodontic Specialists is great. I have two daughters in braces as of this year, my 14 year old got hers last year and my 9 year old this year. I was a little nervous for two reasons. The first the cost because our dental insurance did not cover ortho treatment. The second the up keep because brushing their teeth is not the same when a child has braces. However, I must tell you Kelly Family Orthodontics offered a great payment plan for both my children, and Orthodontic Specialists and staff are extremely patient, nice and know exactly how to talk to the children and parents when it comes to the maintenance during treatment. I went to three other orthos before making my decision and Orthodontic Specialists prices were extremely reasonable. Thank you Orthodontic Specialist of Central Connecticut!!!

Initially both my husband and I were skeptical about bringing our son in for treatment; after all he’s only 9 years old. He’s really scared of dentists. I promised him that going to the orthodontist wouldn’t be bad (we were told by his dentist that he needed early treatment). Orthodontic Specialists and staff proved me right. My son went in there scared for his first exam and left a happy camper. No needles and 100% gentle. The xray machines were pretty interesting too! They were all digital and came up on this huge computer screen. The experience was nothing like the regular dentist where you have to bite on those uncomfortable cardboard things. If you are a parent and have a child as timid as mine, this is the place to be. We will be starting treatment in a couple of weeks.

I had take one of my girls to a different orthodontist six months ago. He didn’t talk to me about straightening her teeth or fixing her bite; he talked to me about making her beautiful! There were many other things that made me walk out without making another appointment. What a contrast here! I just brought two of my girls to Orthodontic Specialists for an initial consultation. I was welcomed from my first phone call where the woman took her time to answer every one of my ridiculous questions… To the paperwork she mailed me to fill out before the visit with a personal friendly note attached. To the “Welcome So-and-so” message with my girls’ names on a wipe-off board. And none of that even has anything to do with teeth! In addition to all that, they were very thorough with the initial visit. His staff took x-rays and photographs. Orthodontic Specialists did a physical exam of their mouths. This intial visit was at no cost. It turns out that one of the girls won’t even be a patient (well, maybe later) and they still took the time to write a recommendation to our dentist on which baby teeth to pull to help out her mouth! One of my girls is very shy, which looks like a fear of dentists when its really just her response to people she doesn’t know asking her questions. I loved how they handled it! They just acted like it was perfectly normal and waited for her to feel more comfortable. They explained everything they were going to do before they touched her, they let me answer for her when she didn’t talk, and just let her warm up. When she walked out, I asked her what she thought of the visit. She whispered to me that she liked it. Orthodontic Specialists gave me lots of options for what we could do to help fix the issues in my girls’ mouth. They weighed the medical aspects as well as the costs and prioritized what needed to be done in his explanation. Wow! When I got home I called up my friend who was looking for an orthodontist and told her he was worth the drive! =)
