Office Visits
Your First Visit
The first step in achieving a healthy, attractive smile is the initial examination. There is no charge for the initial examination because we want to encourage people to seek advice regarding the need for orthodontic treatment without worrying about an examination fee. A set of complimentary digital photographs is also included. At the first visit the orthodontist will tell you if you or your child can benefit from orthodontic treatment, and if so, when treatment should start, how long it may be, and approximate fees related to treatment.
Consultation
If orthodontic treatment is indicated, further diagnostic information will be required. Frequently our patients opt to have their diagnostic X-rays, models, and other necessary records taken at their first visit in order to save time and travel. In some cases there may be a charge for this service but if orthodontic treatment is initiated, this payment will be applied to your total treatment fee. This information is used to develop a custom individualized treatment plan for each patient.
Regular Appointments
The appointment when you get your appliances (braces, expanders, etc.) usually takes from one to two hours. At this time detailed instructions on diet, brushing and flossing, and general care of orthodontic appliances are given. You'll then see us at regular intervals four to eight weeks apart for an adjustment, which takes 15 to 40 minutes.
